FBI Warns of Teleconferencing and Online Classroom Hijacking During COVID-19 Pandemic

FBI warns teleconference meetings may be vulnerable to hijacking.

Two schools in Massachusetts reported incidents where an unidentified individual accesses the online classroom that was being conducted over zoom

FBI issued a public bulletin Monday warning Zoom and other video teleconferencing services may not be as private, or as secure, as users may assume.

 

The use of online classroom and video conference services has exploded in recent weeks as companies, schools, governments, families and people working from home are using these services as a way to communicate. Unfortunately, even though the world has made this transition to try and keep the thing going during the COVID-19 pandemic low life cyber-criminal see this as an opportunity to take advantage of.

 

Tips to help you keep your Online classroom and video call secure:

  • Do not make meetings or classrooms public.
  • Always set a meeting password
  • Do not share a link to a call/meeting or classroom on a public social media post.
  • Ask all users to use that most updated version of remote conference software.
